The Arduino robot

The Arduino robot

I have been approached by Ignite! who are working on a noble endeavour to bring creative coding to young people (10-14 year olds) in local libraries.

Ignite! are working with The Mighty Creatives, East Midlands Libraries Association, and three local libraries to start exploring libraries as a space where digital making happens, and a space for the old and new to collide.

The project will challenge participants to create a mythical robot creature using an Arduino Robot (http://arduino.cc/en/Main/Robot) and will be running in four local libraries over the summer.

How can you help?

The organisers are looking for 3 or 4 local devs that can help participants understand the concepts and program their Arduino robots. If you help out you will be provided with an Arduino robot to familiarise yourself with, and travel and expenses will be paid. There is also a budget for any additional components you might need, such as lights, sensors, etc.

Get Involved

Sounds like a great way to bring coding to some young people who won't have had any exposure to it before, and it would be brilliant to see some local developers involved. If you're interested or have any questions, contact Hasmita Chavda (@HasmitaC) at hasmita@ignitefutures.org.uk
