This privacy policy sets out how Tech Nottingham uses the information you provide to us when using our website, joining our mailing list, using our Slack group or attending our events.

We are committed to ensuring your privacy is protected. Any personally identifiable information we collect about you will be used in accordance with this privacy statement.

Tech Nottingham may change this policy from time to time by updating this page. You should check this page from time to time to ensure that you are happy with any changes. When changes are made we will maintain a record of these changes and when they happened which you can access. This is version 2 of our privacy policy and it is effective from 27th May 2020.

We may collect the following information:

  • Employment status

  • Demographic information such as postcode, preferences and interests

  • Dietary requirements

  • Public usernames of your social media accounts

What we do with this information

We require this information to provide you with an engaging tech community, great events and in pursuit of our mission to make Nottingham a better place to live and work in technology.

In particular for the following reasons:

  • To provide you with access to our events and our online community

  • To let you know about upcoming events and activities which are taking place in the Nottingham tech community

  • To let you know about ways you can help us to make Nottingham a better place to live and work in technology

  • To help us better understand our community

  • To allow us to contact you about our services

We will not sell, distribute or lease your personal information to third parties.

We use third party software and services to manage your data, provide our service, our events and pursue our mission to make Nottingham a better place to live and work in technology. The data held about you on those services is done so in accordance with our privacy policy and the privacy policy of the service provider.

Data Removal

Where personally identifiable data has not been used in the provision of our services for a period of five years or more, this data will be anonymised or destroyed.

Security

We are committed to ensuring that your information is secure. In order to prevent unauthorised access or disclosure, we have put in place suitable physical, electronic and managerial procedures to safeguard and secure the information we collect online.

How we use cookies

A cookie is an identifier, unique to you which we store in your browser and which we can access. We use this to provide a better website experience and to understand which pages you are visiting on our website. Managing the data we hold about you

Mailing List

Subscribers to our mailing list can unsubscribe at any time using the link in our emails to you or you can do so by emailing andrew@technottingham.com and asking to be unsubscribed.

Slack

Users of our Slack group can remove themselves at any time by first deactivating their account and then contacting andrew@technottingham.com and asking to have their deactivated account data deleted.

Subject Access Requests

You may ask to be sent all information we hold about you. You can do so by emailing andrew@technottingham.com and asking to be sent all information we hold about you. We will provide this information within one month.

Right to be forgotten

You may ask that we remove information we hold about you. You can do so by emailing andrew@technottingham.com and asking that we remove information held about you. We will complete this within one month.

Photography and Videography

At some of our events we will commission a photographer or videographer to document the event. The photos and video footage they collect is owned by Tech Nottingham, and is used for marketing and information purposes.

We may use these photos and video footage on our website, at our events and we may provide this to 3rd parties, such as media organisations, in pursuit of our mission to make Nottingham a better place to live and work in technology.

This might include, for example, imagery of an event used in a news article promoting Nottingham as a place to do business in technology.

At any event where we have commissioned a photographer or videographer to document the event, attendees will have opportunity to give or deny consent to being personally identifiable in the images and videos we publish before entering the event. Attendees decisions in this matter will not affect their access to the event. Attendees may change their consent at any time by emailing andrew@technottingham.com, providing a photograph of their face, and asking to not be included in imagery or video we publish.
