What’s In A Game?
In a videogame, anything and everything in the world has been made from scratch and is a wonderful collaboration between many different disciplines. In this talk, we’ll take one of our game features - a system of pipes that can flow and leak - and look in detail at what goes into making it. What code systems are required for its functionality? What art, visual effects and audio are needed? How do you combine it all into something you can place in the game? And how can you make sure you don’t have to reinvent the wheel for each different pipe element you need?
You’ll never look at a videogame in the same way again.
About Rosanna
Rosanna moved into game development after doing a PhD in mathematical physics. She is now working at Dambuster Studios , in Nottingham, where they are working on the next installment in the Dead island franchise. She first worked as a Technical Designer at the studio before following her passion for coding into the Core Tech Programming team. Her interests outside of games include hiking and, when there's not a pandemic on, training to wrestle.
