The IndieWeb Movement: Owning Your Data and Being the Change You Want to See in the Web
by Jamie Tanna
Talk Video
Description
We strive for Free and Open Source software in the world, on mobile, desktop and server. But what about the Web? The IndieWeb is all about taking control, owning your data, and scratching your itches through Open Source and Standards. We're working to take back the Web, and you can, too.
About Jamie
Jamie is a Tech Lead at Capital One, but uses that as a cover for a way to get more views on his personal website, www.jvt.me, into as many Confluence pages as possible!
As an IndieWeb citizen, Jamie tries to own his data and use his personal website as his identity. His avid attending of meetups has led to him tracking them on his website, posting tweets about events to his site first, and even tracking his steps on his website - although they've been not the best numbers this last year!
As the organiser of Homebrew Website Club Nottingham, and avid member of the global IndieWeb community, Jamie hopes to make it possible for more folks to build up their personal websites, and have a better presence on the web.
Win Stuff at Tech Nottingham!
We’ll be giving away some awesome prizes to our lucky attendees. Details on how to win will be shared during the event.
