Join us for September's Nott Tuesday with two great talks!
Nott Tuesday is a community of people building and growing the startups and tech businesses of Nottingham.
Each month we come together to hear stimulating speakers give talks on the challenges of starting and running a technology business, practical guidance on operating a business and exploring future technologies for new opportunities.
Most of all Nott Tuesday is an opportunity for business people and aspiring entrepreneurs to come together, meet like-minded people, share knowledge and grow.
Everyone is welcome and there are no tickets required. Just turn up - it's free!
HOT PROPERTY - EXPLOITING INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY FOR COMMERCIAL GAIN
by Dr Julie Holland
Businesses who create and use their intellectual property can gain significant value and a commercial advantage over their competitors. But this is easier said than done! Even recognising what intellectual property you own can be challenging.
This talk will look at the types of intellectual property commonly created and owned by technology companies and explore ways to use this property to create value.
About Julie
Dr Julie Holland is an academic with expertise in both biomedical sciences and business.
Julie has lectured at Nottingham University and Loughborough University and she has a particular interest in innovation management, strategic business planning and intellectual property management. Julie has also worked in the private sector and for the NHS where she was Director of the East Midlands NHS Innovation Hub.
Julie is now Head of Executive Education and Corporate Relations at Nottingham Business School.
This talk is being given in association with the Big House Project.
AN AGILE RETROSPECTIVE ON NOTT TUESDAY, THE MEETUP
The retrospective is one of the most important elements of any Agile development process, it is a mechanism for celebrating successes, acknowledging failures and then improving and optimising.
We will demonstrate the power of the retrospective by running a retro session on Nott Tuesday as an event.
As an outcome we'll all get to experience and participate in the retrospective session and we'll all get to work together to make Nott Tuesday a better event.
And there'll be post-it notes and sharpies galore!
JOIN IN WITH THE NOTTINGHAM TECH COMMUNITY ONLINE
The conversation continues online in the Tech Nottingham Slack group, which is a bustling, friendly online community with a channel for (almost) everything you can think of from #pets-corner to #devcorner, #podcasts to #design and everything in between. We'd love to see you there!
