Women In Tech August 2018

This month we are really excited to welcome Tess Cooper to Women in Tech, who will be giving a talk on language within organisations.

As always, there'll be free drinks and food for all thanks to our fantastic sponsors Esendex and JH. Everyone is welcome and there are no tickets required. Just turn up - it's free!

I Don't Speak Your Language

by Tess Cooper

Tess

Tess will explore the negative silos and divides that can occur in organisations when one team refuses to learn another's language, or when individuals can't find anyone else that shares their 'language', their culture or approach in an organisation. She'll provide practical ways that individuals and teams can overcome differences in language and approach and explore how you can create a shared organisational language without losing the diversity and individuality of people.

About Tess

Tess is Director of People and Culture at FutureLearn, an online learning platform that aims to transform access to education, and in her role is focussed on creating a diverse company where people are able to fulfil their potential and work together in an open way. She believes that focussing on developing your culture and your people is key to being a successful global business. She is passionate about her work because she wants to see businesses change the way they do things!

Prior to this role she spent 5 years building product teams at the Guardian, Comic Relief and FutureLearn, after which Tess moved into an Organisational Development role helping the entire company, not just the product teams, to develop their practices and ways of working.
